Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It was the top streaming music of that period within the space of six months. The single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton with pop music was not only a way to bring new focus to reggaeton, but also brought more attention to Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish generally, and four tracks in the year 2016. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, however, 19 mostly Spanish tracks made the top 100 In 2020, there were 41 of them. After Justin Bieber's remix in two languages of Despacito (2017) popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton performers including Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma for Medellin (2019). In 2020, several Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the direction of their genre to the mainstream. But a newer generation such as Rauw Alejandro was keen to keep the trend going. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other styles and electronic music.
